Ashaway Viper XT 1500

A stiff, even-balance 84 g Ashaway aimed at improving and intermediate players who want a steady, direct feel at a mid-range price. The frame is built to take high string tensions, so it rewards players who like a firmer string bed.

• Even balance and 4U weight make it easy to switch between attack and defence
• Frame is built to hold high string tensions, which helps control
• Often sold well below its list price and supplied pre-strung

• Stiff shaft asks for a decent swing speed and is harder work for slower swings
• Retailers disagree on the balance wording and tension range (see notes)
• No independent review or launch year found
